Great Great Grandfather Joseph Touron
Great Great Grandfather Joseph Touron was born in 1795 in the parish of St Laurent on the Ile de Orleans in Quebec. He was the son of Jacque Touron and Louise LeCompte. In 1820 he signed a Voyageur's contract and entered into the Fur Trade. He was posted to Fort Sans Parielle near the junction of the Bow River and the South Saskatchewan River not far from where Medicine Hat Alberta is today. His first wife was Charlotte Gladu and with her he had one son Joseph who was born in 1826. When he retired to the Red River Settlement he married Rosalie Laderoute she was the daughter of Jean Philibert Laderoute and Marguerite SansRegret and raised a second family. Below is Rosalie's Scrip record, the first document is the baptismal record, the middle one is an abstract of the Voyageur's contract. Letters From the Far Northwest published in 2005 to commemorate the centennial of the province of Alberta contains a letter dictated by Joseph Touron regarding his service with the Hudson's Bay Company.
